Crypto Scam Network Exposed in Spain with Over 5,000 Victims
Spanish authorities, supported by Europol and international law enforcement agencies, have dismantled a sophisticated crypto fraud network operating across Europe. The scheme, masquerading as a Hong Kong-based Forex and crypto investment platform, defrauded more than 5,000 victims, laundering substantial sums in what Europol describes as one of the continent's largest crypto-related scams.
Five arrests were made in Madrid and the Canary Islands, with forensic teams uncovering further evidence. The operation underscores the growing coordination among global agencies—including Spain's Guardia Civil, Estonia's Police and Border Guard Board, France's New Caledonia National Gendarmerie, and U.S. Homeland Security—to combat financial crime in the digital asset space.
